Genetic variation
Several  hereditary   genetic   variations  are   known   as  Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs).

Diabetes is a multifactorial disease caused by both genetic and environmental factors, characterized by a defective glycemic control.

Diabetic complications
The main cause of the diabetic complications onset is the chronic hyperglycemia.  However, the genetic susceptibility may facilitate the onset of diabetic complications.
