PREVENTION IN TYPE II DIABETES

Obesity is now considered a main risk factor for the development of type II diabetes. An hypercaloric diet, rich in fats and cholesterol, and sedentariness increase dramatically the onset of the disease. Recent studies demonstrate the obese people have a 10 time higher risk for diabetes than the general population.


To prevent diabetes is recommended to have a correct life style, as:

  1. Starting a fitness program
  2. Eat healthy food, prefering food with low glycemic load.
  3. Reduce the consumption of food rich in sugar and fats and beverages with sugar.
  4. Increase the consumption of vegetables, fruits and legumes.
